Q-LAND and LoveTribe’s MenSpirit Program needs volunteers for the following positions. If these positions don’t match your interests and skills, we can find a tailored opportunity just for you. The positions are divided into the following four categories:

  1. OUTREACH (engaging newcomers)
  2. COMMUNITY (empowering existing Q-LAND participants & members)
  3. PROGRAM TEAMS (volunteers who coordinate on-going monthly programs)
  4. PEER SUPPORT GROUPS (volunteers who coordinate peer-support groups)

l. OUTREACH

****Online Outreach Assistant:
Encourage conversations online about wellness, and promote Q-LAND programs on Gay.com, Craigslist, Manhunt, etc.

****Web Developer Q-LAND is migrating its PC-based database to a web-based database that will allow online event registration, online membership development, online donations, and online management and collaboration of volunteers, programs, & support groups.

Web Designer Q-LAND would like to upgrade its heavily text-based website, so it has much stronger visual imagery, is far more interactive, and is simple & useful for various kinds of users.

Diversity Assistant:
Help us reach out to men under 30, over 60, men of color, men living with HIV & other chronic illnesses, high risk men (depression, alcohol/drug/sex addiction), & other men often neglected by the health system.

Media Relations Coordinator
Assure that we are recording and communicating stories to our critical stakeholders about the wellness transformations that are happening within Q-LAND, and that these stories are inspiring reporters, editors, the community, and most of all the men we serve.

2. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

****Newsletter/Blog Editor:
Coordinate our short monthly email newsletter/blog and our quarterly mailed & blogged newsletter.

****Membership Coordinator:
Help create & coordinate our individual & health provider membership system & team.

****Development Assistant
Help research & cultivate individual & foundation major donors.

****Website Assistant
Help update & expland website content.

****Volunteer Coordinator
Assist all Q-LAND leaders and staff in recruiting, training, supervising, appreciating, and developing volunteers. Assure we are accurately recording volunteer hours and contributions.

Wellness Publications Coordinator
Assure program and peer-support group co-facilitators or scribes are creating online & printed documents designed to empower men with similar wellness challenges & visions to learn from the on-going experience of the specific support groups and programs. Assure these publications are edited and conform to the organizational style and templates, and that all confidential identifying information about participants is protected.

Photographer
Take digital photographs and get model release forms to illustrate each of our programs on our website and in various program pubications.

3. PROGRAM TEAMS

HEALTH PROVIDER NETWORK

****Health Provider Network Assistant:
Help us create an online directory of doctors, chiropractors, psychotherapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, dentists, & other other health providers who specialize in men’s wellness. Also help to recruit health providers to become members of the Q-LAND Men’s Wellness Network.

FRIDAYS-AFTER-WORK

Fridays-After-Work Program Coordinator:
Recruit hosts for Fridays-After-Work; work with hosts and participants to develop & publicizie topics.

Fridays-After-Work Co-Host
One Friday a month host the Fridays-After-Work event, which involves welcoming people, giving them nametags, having them sign in, introducing the topic, assuring each man gets an opportunity to share, and that men have the opportunity to mingle after the structured discussion ends.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Social Event Host:
host social events in your home or in community venues that promote men’s fun & wellness.

Social Events Program Coordinator:
Recruit men to host a monthly social event in a home or in the community; support hosts in creating teams to help with promotion, set-up, registration, activities, cleanup.

WELLNESS ALLIES/COACHES

Wellness Ally/Coaching Assistant
Help coordinate wellness allies/coaching training, events, & recruiting.

Training/Quality Assurance Supervisor
Coordinate the training and supervision of Q-LAND’s Men’s Wellness Allies/Coaches. Ideally this volunteer would have psychotherapeutic clinical supervision experience and/or experience supervising peer counselors.

HEALING TOUCH

Healing Touch Program Coordinator
Recruit healing touch professionals to provide interactive demonstrations at our healing touch events. Recruit and train event co-facilitators. Assure the quality of our healing touch events, and that they are meeting the community’s needs, especially the needs of high risk men.

INFORMATION & REFERRAL

Wellness Resource Researcher/Editor
Research men’s wellness resources in the Portland metro area, data enter information in the web database, and edit this information so it is consistent, easy-to-use, and accurate. Assure that Q-LAND has the most comprehensive directory of local men’s wellness resources, and that this directory matches the needs of our members and participants.

4. PEER-SUPPORT GROUPS

****Peer Support Groups Program Coordinator
Work with program staff and the Wellness Allies/Coaches to recruit & train co-facilitators for peer-led support groups, and then support these groups in effectively empowering their members and newcomers. Assure we are offering the right peer-support groups to meet the community’s needs, and that those groups are working well for their members and Q-LAND as a whole. Assist Peer-Support Group scribes to create online & printed documents to empower peer-group members and wellness network members with similar wellness challenges/goals.

Help create & co-facilitate this group to empower men with Practical Strategies for Finding a Long Term Relationship.

Living Well Group Co-Facilitator
Help create & co-facilitate this new group to help men with Eating Well, Weight Loss, & Fitness.

Couple’s Intimacy Lab Co-Facilitator
Help create & co-facilitate this group for men who want to share & learn Practical Strategies for Being in a Great Relationship”

Men’s Diabetes Support Group Co-Facilitator

Genuine Livelihood Support Group Co-Facilitator
